Dr. Tom McDougal earned his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University and his Doctor Of Dental Surgery from Baylor University College Of Dentistry. He also received postdoctoral dental training when he served in the US Air Force Dental Corps for two years. He opened his private dental practice here in Richardson in 1970.
In addition to caring for patients directly at his practice, Dr. McDougal has served the field of dentistry in several capacities. In a volunteer capacity, Dr. McDougal has offered his services for more than 37 years at Kiwanis Wesley Dental Center, a dental clinic for indigent children. He has also worked as an educator for other dental professionals. He served on the faculty at the world-renowned Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida, a role that saw him teach other dentists from around the world.
Through his accomplishments and experiences, Dr. McDougal has earned the opportunity to teach other dentists the managerial and technical aspects of dentistry at a variety of dental meetings in the United States, Canada, and Japan. He has given over 300 scientific lectures at dental seminars. He is also an adjunct professor at Baylor College of Dentistry and on the teaching faculty for the Center of Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry (CARD).
Dr. McDougal has maintained memberships and fellowships in a number of important institutions. He served as the president of the Dallas County Dental Society and the American Academy Of Dental Practice Administration. He is a member of the Texas Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Academy Of Dentistry International. He is a Fellow of the International College Of Dentists, the American College Of Dentists, and the Academy Of General Dentistry.
Dr. McDougal is married to Janet Ruschhaupt McDougal. The couple have three daughters, Dianne, Mary Beth, and Laura, and four grandchildren. His hobbies out of the office include golf, hunting, motorcycling, and aerobic exercise. He is a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church.
